Silicon Valley Baby

As many of you know, we lived in San Jose and San Francisco for 3 years before we moved to NYC in 2015. That time was very special to us - We got engaged overlooking the bay on a trail along the San Andreas Fault, we were newlyweds here establishing our lives together, and Jason's employer is still headquartered in San Jose. We also have many beautiful memories of our time with friends and family.

Ah, the 280: One of the prettiest everyday drives we know

For those of you who have never visited the bay area, you might be surprised by two things: the size and the traffic! Therefore, despite our few days there, we had to skip visits to the East Bay and San Francisco. We're sorry that we had to miss our friends there, but look forward to many future visits!

So, similar to our visit in LA, the focus of this stop was friends and family with a few obligatory visits to places... our favorite area in San Jose- San Pedro Square, Philz Coffee (Kate needed at least one mint mojito iced coffee) and eBay!

Night 1, we parked in our friends' driveway, and we really wish we had taken a photo of this! The RV fit perfectly, and by perfectly, I mean that we were able to squeeze out of the driver door only. There was a trellis overhead that was about a foot too short, so we stopped just short of it. We were exactly in. This was necessary because there are rules in San Jose preventing sleeping in a street parked RV, but we just fit and it worked great!

The next day, Jason set up a time to stop in with our baby to see his colleagues at eBay. We picked up a cake on the way and set over to his old office building. Ella received plenty of ooo and ahhs as we enjoyed the cake and told everyone about our trip. We let everyone get back to work after she started getting a little fussy.

Ready for her interview?

We then headed out to visit our cousins in Sunnyvale for dinner. They had a baby this year, so we had a great time introducing the sweet girls. They have two older boys who have gotten so big in the seemingly short amount of time that we've been gone. We've really missed them!

We left the RV at the cousin's house where there is plenty of free street parking, packed an overnight bag and crashed with our friend Gerald. While we love our camping adventure, we felt quite spoiled by a full sized shower and a room of our own. The next day, we took our time getting sandwiches in Millbrae and stopping at Philz coffee.

Ella needed her morning coffee
We picked up the RV with the intention of getting somewhere north in a reasonable amount of time on the coastal road through San Francisco.

Heading north!
